In a bid to improve the iCloud service for Windows, Apple and Microsoft have come together to work on a new iCloud app for Windows 10. iCloud has been available directly on Windows so far. However, this new iCloud for Windows 10 will be made available on Microsoft Store. The new iCloud will come with an added feature that will allow you to save more disk by giving you access to iCloud files on your Windows 10 PC without syncing them.
Apple had recently used Windows API for syncing cloud storage. Thus, this coming together of the two tech giants means there is probably a lot more to come in the near future. Talking about the features of the new iCloud, it will have a placeholder of the file downloaded. Also, once a folder is marked for sync, the iCloud will simply download all its contents directly. The File Explorer will have the iCloud integrated into it, and will also boast of separate folders for utility apps like Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. The iCloud will allow you to download photos from iCloud Photos, Safari Bookmarks, Contacts, Reminders, and of course the documents stored on iCloud itself. The new iCloud App is already available on the Microsoft Store.
Talking about the bonding between Apple and Microsoft, Apple did give Microsoft a minor blow lately. At this year’s Worldwide Developer Conference, Apple announced it will bring an end to the nearly two decade old iTunes app. The company will replace it with three different apps individually covering podcasts, movies, and music. All the three apps are expected to be available for Windows as well after a certain time period though. Windows users would be more than glad if Apple Music and Movies come to them without any fuss. In case it works out, Windows will see a great rise in the market.
